Writing is one of my passions. It borders on obsession. You'll understand that: the burning desire to express yourself, to free all these great stories that have nibbled away at you for years ....

As an author, I'm probably best known for my popular series for girls about the sensational spylet, Jane Blonde. I've written several other children's books and am signed up to do many more, and I've also got several women's novels under my belt.

Before becoming an author, however, I spent nearly 15 years

in HR and Training and Development, winding up as Director of T&D for a huge telecommunications company. My other great love, you see, is helping other people to fulfil their dreams and their potential.

Since 2004 I've combined the writing and the development work in my consultancy, Write Good Stuff (a nod to my Northern English roots!). My workshops help writers begin, shape and hone their work, from 1000 word picture books to 100,000 word novels of any genre, for any age.

For those who are further along, I provide manuscript assessments which point out pitfalls and priorities, and full copy-editing if required – whatever it takes to get your work closer to publication.

I have many clients who have done workshops and assessments and are now on to their next books, and seeing someone I've worked with become published is as great a thrill as seeing my own books in print!
