How it works

Jill is a member of the New Zealand Association of Manuscript Assessors, and has assessed hundreds of manuscripts. An impartial assessment of your completed manuscript can be absolutely invaluable in helping you to shape your book before submitting to a publisher or agent.

Unlike many assessors, Jill is happy to work on an electronic version of your manuscript. Not only does this speed up the whole assessment process (and save paper!), it also means that your copy edits are done for you on the document. In addition, it's the way that most publishers edit these days, so you can be getting used to the format for when you are published.

What's included

A Write Good Stuff assessment provides you with a comprehensive report covering all the areas relevant to you to get your manuscript to the highest quality possible. Most assessments give you this, but a WGS assessment also includes:

• The opportunity to discuss the assessment by phone, email or online meeting.
• Online assessments
• A light copy edit (ie corrections, spelling, punctuation, grammar etc)
• Maximum four-week turnaround
• Assessment of any fiction from picture book to novel, in any genre

Five chapter shape up

You'll probably know that publishers often ask for the first three chapters of your work. Get your early chapters into great shape with a Five Chapter Shape Up. Why five? Well, because:

• You can lose one or two or move one or two to make the biggest impact.
• In five chapters I can see trends that will apply to the rest of your book.
• You'll present the best three chapters to the publisher.
• Price by wordcount.
